Veteran Bollywood star, Anupam Kher, who isn’t afraid of voicing his opinions about Indian politics is currently in hot waters for ‘damaging the image’ of the former Indian PM Manmohan Singh. No, this didn’t happen because of another ugly political debate but because the A lister will be seen essaying the role of Singh in his forthcoming movie ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’.
“I did have my reservations before doing this film and also wrongly judged you at times but today after finishing the shoot and having almost lived the role for more than one-year I can say it with utmost sincerity that history will not misjudge you. Will wait to have that cup of tea with you once you watch our film,” he wrote.
Kher’s co-star, Akshay Khanna is also in trouble because he is also being accused of inappropriate portrayal of PM Singh’s press advisor Sanjay Baru.
The case has been filed by lawyer Sudhir Kumar Ojha in a Bihar court, which has accepted the case and will hold a hearing on January 8.
The eight-time Filmfare award winning actor was earlier quite happy when the movie’s trailer came out on social media “Friends!! The wait is over!!! You will be happy to know that the Trailer of ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ is coming to all of you tomorrow, 27th December.”
Sadly though, he’s now quiet upset as the trailer is amiss from YouTube.
Speaking about his role in the movie, Kher is of the opinion that people who have been pointing fingers at him and criticizing him for portraying Manmohan Singh will be happy once they get to watch the movie.
Terming it one of the best movies he has worked in throughout his career, Kher asserts that once people will watch the movie they will learn how never to misjudge Singh.
