A mother-daughter bond is stronger and special, more than words can explain. You know no matter where in the world you are and who you become, for your mother you will always be her little daughter.
In the recent past we have had a plethora of female-led stories that have done really well, proving that even men can relate to such stories. This, of course, is a welcoming change. The face of Pakistani drama industry is changing, slowly but surely. And behind this change is an army of great scriptwriters who are pushing limits and giving us some unique plot lines. When it comes to writing strong female characters, one name that strike sour mind is Asma Nabeel. She gained acclaim for her recent outing “Khanni and Khuda Mera Bhi Hai”.
The celebrated author is back with her new project tilted “Daamsa”. The cherry on the cake is that Nadia Jamil would feature as the lead protagonist. Asma told Celebdhaba during the course of this interview.
“Daamsa is a sensitive tale of a mother and daughter. Their life changes as a big incident occurs and changes things completely. It depicts the strength of a mother, how she stands for her daughter against the societal pressures. Being a parent myself I can feel the pain of people who go through such incidents in real life. It shows how unpredictable life is
We have roped in Nadia Jamil for the lead. I have been lucky throughout my career that I get to work with the best actors for all my projects. I look up to Nadia not only as a great actor but as a great person too. There is no doubt about her acting skills. It was my dream to work with Nadia”
Nadia Jamil also revealed some details about her character:
“The name of my character is Arija, her strength inspires me a lot. She is a nurse by profession and a mother who loves her daughter more than life itself. We are still shooting for it; so far it has been an incredibly emotional journey for all of us
The cast includes Shahood Alvi, Saleem Miraj, Khalid Malik, Eman and Falak, Gul-e-Rana, Ayesha Gul, Asiaa and Ismat Zaidi. It is directed by Najaf Bilgrami and produced by Shazia Wajahat”
