The queen of sufi music Abida Parveen and the young talented singer Asrar Shah are all set for a great musical collaboration once again. The two have been spotted recently in a jamming session in Lahore.
Asrar Shah has shared a video on his official social media account where he mentioned that something big coming soon.
The singer sang a few lines of Abida Parveen’s popular sufi number, Main Naraye Mastana, whereas the music maestro Parveen joined him on the harmonium.
The two singers have previously lent their voices for a track that was featured in the Pakistani film, Rangreza. Titled Phool Khil Jayien, the song has garnered over one million views on YouTube.
Ruling the music scene of Pakistan for more than two decades, Abida Parveen has been considered as the undisputed ‘queen of sufi music’. She has won hearts of millions of her fans all across the globe with her mesmerizing live performances. The recipient of several accolades, the singer has been honored with the country’s prestigious awards including 1984’s Pride of Pakistan and 2005’s Sitara-e-Imtiaz.
Parveen is best known for her songs in bloomy loud voice Yaar ko Humne from the album Raqs-e-Bismil and Tere Ishq Nachaya which is a rendition of Bulleh Shah’s poetry. Pakistan’s second highest civilian award the Hilal-e-Imtiaz has been bestowed upon her by the President of Pakistan for 2012.
On the other hand, the young singer Asrar has also carved a niche for himself with his unique singing and distinctive vocals in a short period of time. He came to recognition with his mind blowing performance in Coke Studio in 2014.
He made his Bollywood debut in July 2015 with a song Afghan Jalebi for the film Phantom. In Pakistan, he has lent his voice for several films including Bhaag Ja from Wrong No, Shakar Wandan from Ho Mann Jahaan, Funkaraan from Actor in Law and Dekh Magar Pyaar Say from the film Dekh Magar Pyaar Say.
