His latest film, Toilest Ek Prem Katha, has won a lot of accolade and appreciation from all across the globe and the latest to join his fan list is none other than the Microsoft owner, Bill Gates.
As the year is about to come an end, Bill Gates has made a list of tweets from around the world that he found “inspiring” in what he called a “tough year”.
Guess what, Akshay Kumar’s film is among one of those inspiring things. Bill tweeted, “Toilet: A Love Story, a Bollywood romance about a newlywed couple, educated audiences about India’s sanitation challenge.”
The film is made with a social message focuses on eradicating the practice of open defecation in the country. It is an effort to support the initiative taken by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pet project Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The film stars Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead roles.
After highlighting an important issue in Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Akshay is all set to address another powerful subject in his upcoming film PadMad and it is about menstrual hygiene.
Based on Twinkle Khanna’s book, ‘The Legend Of Lakshmi Prasad’, the film is inspired from the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, a Tamil Nadu-based social activist who revolutionized the concept of menstrual hygiene in rural India by creating a low-cost sanitary napkins machine
Written and directed by R. Balki, the film features Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte in lead roles. It is slated to release on 26 January 2018.
