Model turned actor Emad Irfani says that he was offered a role in two Bollywood flicks, ‘Raabta’ and ‘Veera Di Wedding’ but circumstance didn’t work for him and he had to let those offers go.
“I was on board for Madock Films’ Raabta and Anil Kapoor Films’ Veere Di Wedding (in India) which stars Kareena Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor, until circumstances out of one’s control interfered,” he said in an interview to Express Tribune.
The actor further added that a good film is an effort of great team over and he preferred quality over anything else.
“Throughout out my career, I’ve always preferred quality over quantity. So when the time is right, and I think the project has substance and the right platform for me to explore my creative side, I will definitely take it up,” he added.
During last five years, various Pakistani stars have made successful debut in Bollywood – including Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Mawra Hocane and Saba Qamar. After seeing the talent of these stars, many Indian producers approached many other Pakistani artists to work in their films. However, a ban was imposed by some Indian film organizations on Pakistani about working in Bollywood after the Uri incident in September 2016, which led to increased tensions between the two countries.
After making a successful career in modeling, Irfani made a powerful foray into acting world in 2013 in Geo’s drama serial ‘Aasmano Per Likha’. The prominent drama serial of his career included Saya-e-Dewaar Bhi Nahi, Janam Jali, Titli, Sehra Main Safar, Sanam and Woh Aik Pal.
He has been currently working in Ahsan Khan’s production alongside Aisha Khan. He is also busy shooting for MD Production’s Mah-e-Tamam. He told about his role in the drama in following words:
“The character is different from what I’ve done previously, which mostly have been angry-young-man personas. The (female) lead once again opposite me is Naveen Waqar, whom I have worked on a couple of projects also, and I guess is a testament of the popularity. I feel that’s why the producers have opted for this specific cast,” he said.
