Though Pakistan Cricket Board selectors picked the best possible side for the ICC World Cup 2019 starting from 30th of this month, the performance of the team has been totally disappointing against England. Pakistan has lost its last 10 consecutive matches and failed to make a potential comeback at any stage. Frustration has crept into the side and fingers are being raised and critics are coming out sternly against the team management.

Sarfaraz Ahmed’s 97 runs couldn’t save Pakistan from defeat.

Not much time is left to rethink whatever strategy they have in mind. Shadab and Muhammad Amir have been taken on board and the selectors are in contemplation to make last minute adjustments. Wahab Riaz is being considered to reinforce the bowling attack which is unambiguously exposed in the current series. Grave concerns are still there about the credibility of middle order batting. If the two seniors Shoaib Malik and Muhammad Hafeez couldn’t meet the expectations, who else would replace them on those crucial batting positions? So many questions and insecurities that need instant remedy but unluckily Pakistan Cricket has no solution at this point of time. They have to enter the competition with the available resources and would have to come up with an outstanding game plan to make a surprising show in their World Cup campaign.

Woakes five wickets made England’s victory easy.

Pakistan being so unpredictable at times that they can beat any side in the world on any fateful day but this volatility in sports can never be relied upon. The series against England is a wakeup call and Pakistan cannot afford to play random cricket. ICC World Cup is a major event and it cannot be taken as granted. The only thing that can salvage Pakistani cricket fans’ hopes in a situation where the team is short of super stars and key match winners is an unwavering determination to fight for each wicket and every run. Pakistan has no options left except only playing for winning without fear of defeat. The only way our team can make an impact if they keep fighting till the last ball is bowled and until a wholehearted effort is made without break.
