The runaway league leaders Barcelona and Manchester City in their respective domestic competitions have been ousted dramatically, sending shock-waves to the thousands of football fans around the world.
On the other hand, Christiano Ronaldo’s last winning touch salvaged them from the looming blow in the dying moments of the game against the Italian side Juventus. Real Madrid side struggled a bit as Juventus were bent upon doing the do-or-die thing. Juventus masterly equalized the three goal lead on aggregate but Ronaldo’s 98th minute penalty sent Real Madrid through to their eighth consecutive semi-final.
Man City enjoyed most of the possession in a match against the Liverpool but the Red Devils came out from behind to score two goals to leave City stranded in wilderness. Liverpool’s present form and some speedy strikers at the front have put them in domination these days. With a fast and impressive striking force comprised of Muhammad Salah, Sadio Mane, Joe Gomez, Alberto Moreno and Roberto Firmino, Liverpool has achieved outstanding results in the last few months.
For Barcelona, it was really a big shocker against Roma. The Spanish giants though were equal on aggregate, but the away goal by Roma made the decisive difference. Lionel Messi seemed clueless to reply to Roma’s energetic and highly electrified display of attacking football.
