The story of the film, “Saawan” is about a nine year old boy who is suffering from Polio in who lives in Balochistan.  Rejected by most of the society including his father, the story focuses on the dangerous journey of the boy towards his main city and family.

Saawan has now won Best Feature Film at the All Lights India International Film Festival.

Director Farhan Alam said,

“This festival was held in Hyderabad India, the birthplace of my late grandfathers. I am so honored and thrilled that we have been so blessed on the journey. Without everyone’s hard work, dedication and support I don’t believe we could have made it so far.
We want to dedicate this award to all people with disabilities (ones that can be seen and ones that can’t) and to all the missing children in the world, you are loved and may Allah keep you safe ”

 

The film has already won several awards before such as  ‘Best Foreign Language Feature Film’ award at the Madrid International Film Festival 2017 and the ‘Best Film’ and ‘Best Soundtrack Award’ at Salento International Film Festival in Italy.

The film is already selected as an official Oscar submission from Pakistan.
