In today’s match, it wasn’t a matter of winning against India but losing against them with dignity. It was an obnoxious display of bad cricket played with a very little zeal. You can’t afford to play like this in a semifinal match especially against the arch rivals.

India batted first and posted a good score on the board. Shubman Gill, the aspiring Indian batsman scored 102 not out to help India set a total of 272. For his outstanding batting performance, Gill was named player of the match. Ishan Porel was India’s hero with the ball, taking four for 17.

Sadly, Pakistan U-19 team was baffled, the way they chased and played under teen Cricket. They were bowled out for just 69 runs with 20 overs still remaining. Pakistan U19 team even couldn’t score 200 runs during the tournament. With this performance, it’s uncertain to say that Pakistan Cricket’s future is bright. Only three players managed to get into double figures, where wicketkeeper batsman Rohail Nazir finished with the top score of 18.  Muhammad Musa was the pick of the bowlers as he claimed four, whereas his new-ball partner Arshad Iqbal took three wickets. Pakistan’s poor fielding also curtailed chances of any good to the team. They messed up seven run out chances.

Now with this thrashing by India, the Cricket peers shouldn’t boast high and pay little attention to just rhetoric and do something pragmatic. These sudden batting collapses consistently happen with both the U-19 and national teams and there seems no way to get rid of them.

Pakistan will now face Afghanistan in the third place playoff on Thursday, whereas against Afghanis the things are not quite satisfactory too. Pakistan has lost last two games against Afghanistan and not sure whether they’ll be able to save this one as well.
