Another crushing innings defeat and series lost in the Ashes, has made things really difficult for the desperate England captain and coach. With this innings and 41 runs lost in WACA Perth, the most depressed persons at the post match press conference were, Joe Root and Trevor Bayliss.
Even though the England skipper termed the defeat as “bitterly disappointing” he’s still not utterly despondent. He said that, England weren’t completely outplayed by Australia. He believes that England has the will to respond strongly in the remaining last two test matches. The team is learning from mistakes and looking to put things right, he said. On the other hand, Australian captain Steve Smith is zealous to accomplish another Ashes whitewash without leaving any chance of complacency whatsoever.
Former England captain Michael Vaughan fears that England’s whitewash is inevitable. He criticized the seniors in the squad. “The problem when I look at the England team is they are going to go through that tricky position very soon where they have three really senior legends in the team – Alistair Cook, Stuart Broad and Jimmy Anderson”, he said.
It’ll be important for England to regroup and revitalize the team spirit for upcoming matches in Melbourne and Sydney and find a possible consolation for dejected English fans.
