As countdown for the ICC Cricket World Cup that is scheduled to begin next month in England and Wales, preparations of all teams are being fine-tuned and selectors have their eyes well set on picking the best possible side. Pakistan still to play England at their home turf in May that will allow both teams to keep up the rhythm just before the main event. These five one-days and a T20 will especially help Pakistan to adjust to the conditions and envisage a strategy that might bring some fruitful results in the World Cup.

The legendary middle order batsman and Pakistan’s Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq expressed his confidence in team’s ability to perform outstandingly and emerge as the favorites. He said that Pakistan is well capable of winning the World Cup 2019.

‘I am confident we will pick a very good team for the World Cup and Pakistan will be among the favorites for the title”, he said. Shedding light on Pakistan’s recent debacle against Australia in UAE, he said that it was just a critical evaluation to test Pakistan’s bench strengthen as key players were deliberately rested, even though Pakistan fought hard and lost matches with a very close margin.

Earlier Pakistan team’s skipper, Sarfaraz Ahmed spoke about his optimism to reach the finals in this year’s grand tournament. Speaking to a local TV channel he speculated that Australia, New Zealand, India and Pakistan will make it to the semifinals. He wished to do something that the nation may remember forever. He also seemed worried about Muhammad Amir’s recent bad patch and hoped that the main striker bowler will recover with all strength before the World Cup.

The selectors will be announcing Pakistan’s 15 member World Cup squad on the 18th of this month. Pakistan to play against West Indies in their first match on May 31 at Trent Bridge for this year’s ICC World Cup 2019.
