Action star Jason Statham has joined the cast for Hollywood remake of French thriller Le Convoyeur, which will be directed by Guy Ritchie.
Miramax CEO Bill Block will be producing the project and he had purchased the remake rights of the original 2004 French film from StudioCanal. Speaking about the anticipation Bill said “Working again with Guy Ritchie on our second collaboration together, alongside renowned actor Jason Statham, is a privilege, and we anticipate that the tone and flavor of these two longtime friends will resurrect nothing less than a true, genre classic.”
Jason Statham will be playing a cold and mysterious character who works for an armoured truck company responsible for moving hundreds of millions of dollars around Los Angeles each week. Though many details of Jason’s character have not been revealed however the film will similar to the 2004 French film Le Convoyeur which was also known as the Cash truck the original film starred Jean Dujardin and Albert Dupontel in the lead roles. Will this film also be having two leads? That is still unknown.
Jason Statham and Guy Ritchie will be reuniting after almost 20 years they worked together in 1998’s crime comedy Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels followed by the Snatch which came out in 2000.
Talking about working with Statham once again Guy Ritchie said “I’m looking forward to bringing this story to life and working with Jason while he still has the use of his knees.”
