The Kid Who Would Be King is a modern day film based on the legendary British monarch King Arthur which is written and directed by Joe Cornish, who has previously worked on Steven Spielberg’s The Adventures of Tintin and Ant-Man.
The movie is about a school kid who has nothing special about him he gets bullied by the big boys but eventually he turns into a hero. His luck changes when he pulls King Arthur’s famous sword Excalibur from the stone it is buried in. According to the King Arthur stories only the true king or true royal blood can pull the sword out of the stone and become its rightful owner wielding a lot of power.

The trailer begins where we see Alex played by Andy Serkis running away from bullies and ending himself in building that is under construction. He finds the sword that is buried in the rock and he plans on pulling it out and he succeeds.
However he has to form an alliance together with the knights of the round table who are actually his schoolmates to fight the wicked witch Morgana played by Rebecca Ferguson. Patrick Stewart plays Merlin, but the younger Merlin is played by Angus Imrie who is seen in the trailer.
The official synopsis of the film says, “Old school magic meets the modern world in the epic adventure THE KID WHO WOULD BE KING. Alex (Ashbourne Serkis) thinks he’s just another nobody, until he stumbles upon the mythical Sword in the Stone, Excalibur. Now, he must unite his friends and enemies into a band of knights and, together with the legendary wizard Merlin (Stewart), take on the wicked enchantress Morgana (Ferguson). With the future at stake, Alex must become the great leader he never dreamed he could be.”
The Kid Who Would Be King will be releasing on January 25 2019.
