The epic jodi of 90s, Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt, is all set to grace silver screen after a gap of twenty years in Karan Johar’s much-anticipated project, Kalank – but what sounds more interesting to us that the film has strong Pakistani connection.

According to Times of India, Kalank is based on Karan Johar’s father, Yash Johor’s dream project and the story is set in 1940s and goes beyond borders.

The multifaceted director, Karan Johar, made announcement about the new film through a tweet today.

The film will be directed by Abhishek Varman of ‘2 States’ fame. It is being co-produced by Fox Star Studios, Sajid Nadiadwala, and Apoorva Mehta. The multi-starrer cast included the much-loved jodi of Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan besides Aditya Roy Kapur, Sonakshi Sinha and the ‘Saajan’ pair of Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit.

Reportedly, ‘Kalank’ is an epic emotional historical drama and Karan’s father Yash had rumoured to have even travelled to Lahore to do hands-on research for the project so that he could create the right look and feel for Pakistan of 1940s.

Filmfare magazine has reported the shoot for the film has been kicked off with an item number shoot on Kiara Advani and Varun Dhawan.

The source said, “Kiara is doing an item number in Kalank. She will be seen with Varun Dhawan in the song. They have started the shoot of the film with this song.”

Earlier, Sridevi was cast opposite Sanjay Dutt in the film but after her demise, Madhuri Dixit has been taken on board as her replacement.

‘Kalank’ is slated to release on Good Friday, April 19, 2019.
