Gul Makai the biopic of Malala Yousafzai’s motion poster is out, the story which is inspired by the life of Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai of Pakistan. The film has been directed by Amjad Khan and produced by Anand Kumar.

While speaking to IANS Anand Kumar said “The biopic is 50 per cent finished and I am super curious to bring it to the silver screen soon. We have already shot the war sequences and other important schedules. Now we will be shooting with our Malala in Kashmir.” Some parts of the film have also been shot in in Bhuj and Mumbai.


The poster of the film features the TV actor Reem Shaikh as Malala Yousafzai with a book in her hand and the book can be seen exploding when the motion poster opens up. In the background of the poster we can hear the voice of Kabir Bedi’s voice who is telling us about Malala Yousafzai’s life and the struggle she went through “This is about those times when the Taliban was destroying Pakistan and Afghanistan in the name of Jihad and religion. When from a very small village in Pakistan, a voice arose,”Kabir bedi Narrates.


The official synopsis of the film reads, “Gul Makai accounts the courageous journey and struggle of Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai, from her humble upbringing in the Swat Valley to her becoming the champion for free education to all. Gul Makai is a small tribute to this lion-hearted girl who is in every essence a global citizen championing a cause that transcends boundaries, caste, religion and geography.”

The cast of the film includes Divya Dutta, Reem Shaikh, Mukesh Rishi, Abhimanyu Singh and Ajaz Khan and also the Late Om Puri. In 2012 Malala Yousafzai had survived an assassination attempt when she was writing her blog for BBC Urdu, Malala Yousafzai was then treated abroad after that she recovered and from that day onwards she has been an inspiration to many people.
