The acting prowess Manisha Koirala who just completed six years of being cancer free shares how the disease changed her for the better and the lessons she learnt along the way.
Koirala won a tough battle against ovarian cancer and believes that the disease ‘made her mind sharper, mind clearer, and perspective realigned’, as reported by Indian Express.
Speaking about her memoir ‘Healed: How Cancer Gave Me A New Life’, which she has penned down herself, she states the book is ‘a result of intense soul searching’.
The star says that it took her a lot of courage to relive her past but doing so was mandatory. “It has taken a lot of courage to confront and relive my experiences. But I needed to do so in order to become a true storyteller for the readers’ sake as well as my own.”
Belonging to a prominenet family in Nepal, Koirala ade her Bollywood debut in 1991 and then took a break from a her acting career in 2012. Fast forward to five years, and she made a smashing comeback with Dear Maya, Netflix’s lust stories and Sanju. However, the comeback wasn’t as easy as it looked like.
“At first it was difficult for me to take on the role of a character artist as I had been used to playing the heroine. Then I saw the blessing in this. Having plunged into the depths of my emotions, I could now express the intricate complexities, deeper nuances and more profound layers of each character.”
Bt now that she is back, she feels very happy about whatever she had to endure in the past as that just changed her personality in a three dimensional way.
