With the revival of cinema in Pakistan, many television stars have made a major shift in their career by deciding to move to silver screen but among them there are only few who are lucky enough to taste the success over there – and Mehwish Hayat is surely one of them.
Although her filmy career has kicked off with an unconventional item number, Billi, but later she signs some really good films which prove that she is here to stay. The immense success of Jawani Phir Nahi Aani, Actor in Law and Punjab Nahi Jaungi has further added glitter to her shinning career.
Her magic on silver screen hasn’t only made her ‘producers’ favourite’ but it has also given a boost to her previous projects too.
Recently a YouTube channel has shown an interest in a telefilm, Inshallah, starring Mehwish Hayat in a pivotal role. The channel has got the rights to turn the telefilm into five episodes mini-drama serial.
Directed by Khurram Mahmood, the telefilm has been written by Jonathan James and produced by Catherine Marcus. It was aired in 2009 on a local television channel.
Set in the city of lights, the telefilm features a story of young couple, Farhan (Mohib Mirza) and Sahar (Mehwish Hayat) and their new born daughter and the problems they faced in their lives. The telefilm tackles the issues of people smuggling and gambling and its impacts on individual’s lives.
The stellar cast of the drama also included Saife Hassan, Rashid Farooqui, Mosa Raza and Seema Ghazal.
The telefilm was nominated for six local and international awards and won five awards.
The first episode of ‘Inshallah’ will release tomorrow, Friday 16th February, via Youtube.
