“Mera Gilgit” promises to be a refreshing take on love!
Cinema in Pakistan seems to get exciting day by day as a lot of fresh faces are making their debuts in Lollywood. Apart from them, a number of TV actors who have already established their names on the small screen will be trying their luck on the big screen this year.
One such name is Omair Khan Leghari who is all set to grace the silver screen with “Mera Gilgit”
Mera Gilgit (A love story) is a joint venture, produced under the banner of Omair Khan Leghari and Gul Bakawali Films. The film stars Omair Khan Leghari, Faraz Faroqui, Fizza Zehra Rizvi and Sana Riaz in lead roles. The supporting cast includes Asif Sardar, Asal Din Khan and Asifa Appa.

It’s a love story of a boy from Karachi who meets a girl in Gilgit, and eventually fall in love. Now, this is where the most difficult part begins for both the characters as they find themselves in unexpected crisis.
It’s a journey for the “quest of love” with a high dose of drama, romance, emotions, music and color.
I am co-directing and producing the film as well. My better half (Sadaf Omair) is taking care of the costume designs.

Gilgit Baltistan has a strong traditional background, which portrays different cultural instincts including music, sports and indoor games.
We’ve shot the film in Gilgit and its surroundings intending to bring the breathtaking beauty of Pakistan to the big screen.
Mountains of great heights, soothing greenery, a clean vibrant sky and crystal clear streams provide a scenic setting which contribute much more to the film.
Shooting at such locations is challenging for sure, the erratic weather, disconnectivity from the rest of the world etc.
We are currently filming at the moment and subsequently will start editing as the shoot wraps up.
We will initiate the marketing campaign and plan a grand launch for it.
Film is an ultimate medium for any actor. The revival of the Pakistani film industry is on course, therefore it’s an anxious time for us to put in a lot of effort and hard work into the films, to keep it original and above all, one shouldn’t underestimate the audience.
There are lots of elements to a film’s success or failure, it’s always a combination of things.
I just want to say to all my fans out there, give our films at least a shot by taking out time to watch Pakistani cinema.
“Mera Gilgit” is fresh, young and original in content, the actors have outdone themselves and Pakistan will really shine in this one.
