Misbah faces a daunting task ahead as the coach and chief selector.

Optimism is a good thing but it shouldn’t come at the cost of unpreparedness. Recently Pakistan was whitewashed by Sri Lanka at home in T20 series that exposed team’s disorderly attitude, further resulting in Sarfraz Ahmed’s ouster as a captain. Misbah being head coach and chief selector at the same time needs to sort out things rather than relying on team’s unpredictability factor. Misbah while talking to the reporters in Sydney ahead of Pakistan’s exhibition match against Cricket Australia XI said that, our unpredictability could be frightening for Australia. It is true, Pakistan has surprised so many teams over the years to come out from behind and finish as a winning side in the end but this won’t happen every time.

Looking at the side right now, we’ll see young players making their way into the squad with inclusion of Muhammad Irfan alongside new captains for T20 and tests. Babar Azam, the most prolific scorer in the lineup has been burdened now with captaincy for T20s which might affect his performance as a batsman. It will be a big test for him to lead a team that carries fresh scars of defeat.

Babar Azam to play his first match as Pakistan’s new captain in T20

The first T20 match to be played between Pakistan and Australia on 3rd November shall reveal team’s current performance indicator. To beat Australia in Australia means, you’ll have to play extraordinary Cricket according to a game plan that’s highly based on attacking Cricket. Pakistan might do well in bowling department but things are quite unsure when it comes to batting especially on wickets that contain high bounce and movement both off the pitch and turn for spinners simultaneously.

Pakistan needs to adjust to the Australian conditions very quick. They need to gear up to play positive and confident Cricket against Aaron Finch’s side. The coach has a double responsibility of being more than a trainer. It’s a young team and needs strategic motivation, counseling and mental strength to clash with one of the world’s toughest team.

Aaron Finch ready to dominate Pakistan in home conditions

But again Misbah’s “unpredictability” expectation might come into play and bring some results that Pakistani Cricket fans would love to see.
