The versatile actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui upcoming film, ‘Thackeray’ is sure to create headlines as it is based on the life of Hindu extremist leader, Bal Thackeray.

Siddiqui revealed the first look of the film through a tweet.

In his very next tweet, he shared the first poster of the film –founding himself as a fortunate actor to depict the character of his great leader on silver screen.

Earlier during the launching ceremony of the teaser, Nawazuddin Siddiqui expressed his feelings for being a part of such an important venture.

“It’s truly a great day for me. I am fortunate to have got an opportunity to enact the role of such a great personality which any actor in the world would love to do. I am sure Balasaheb will inspire and bless me in this venture,” said Nawazuddin in a video message since he was unable to attend the function as he is away shooting in Mauritius

The one-minute-and-forty-second-long teaser of the film is really intriguing, dark and dramatic. The scene opened up with an infant wailing in lower middle class locality. The toddler’s wails are gradually drowned as a mob of people reached to torch the place.

The trailer also showed a Muslim man offering prayer in the same room where the Shiv Sena leader is conducting his meetings. The teaser ends Nawazuddin Siddiqui taking up the stage as Bal Thackeray to address masses.

Directed by Abhijit Panse, the film has been written by journalist and Member of Parliament Sanjay Raut. The movie will be shot in Hindi and Marathi, and will be dubbed in English. It is slated to release on January 23, 2019
