The Pakistan Advertising Association held its Central Executive Committee (CEC) in Karachi on 10th December 2018.

The committee discussed the crisis caused by the delayed payments from the Government of Pakistan. The Participants of the Pakistan Advertising Association discussed the pending recoveries from the Provincial and Federal Governments of Pakistan.

“The Advertising Association is fully committed to support the Government in rooting out all the non merit based elements from the advertising agencies, as well as strengthening the relevant government bodies, like the Press Information Department (PID) and the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. The Government can only achieve positive results if they take concrete and meaningful steps to enhance the transparency of its internal processes and procedures.”
The Chairman of Pakistan Advertising Association (PAA) Ali Mandviwalla said in the conference

The advertising agencies and the media both Print and Electronic media’s are currently suffering from a cash-flow crisis because the Provincial and Federal Governments are not paying off the dues of the advertising agencies, print and electronic media. This financial irresponsibility could also damage the credibility of the Government and cause problems in the balance of payments.

The Government of Pakistan had proposed a new policy for the print, electronic and digital media however it was rejected by all the by all the main stakeholders including Pakistan Advertising Association (PAA), All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) and the Pakistan Broadcasters Association(PBA) and it was none other than a death sentence for them.

However Pakistan Advertising Association is in favor of meaningful changes and reforms that will be improving the conditions and a merit based process of the Government for selecting capable agencies on having a good merit reputation.


PAA also said that the Advertising Agencies do not create any financial burden on the Government of Pakistan, the advertising professionals provide valuable creative services- free-of-cost, to the public sector, while the agencies’ expenses and costs are met from the commissions they earn from the Media.

It was also proposed that to overcome all the errors in the past, it is imperative that the stakeholders aligned of the industry for collective decision making on forming an improved policy.
