The Cricket Carnival flared up in a colorful musical opening ceremony in Dubai International Cricket Stadium to officially install the third edition of Pakistan Super League 2018. Hareem Farooq and Bilal Ashraf hosted the ceremony among glitz and glamour. Star singer Ali Zafar, legendary vocalist Abida Perveen and pop songster Shehzad Roy rocked the stage with their style and performances. American singer, songwriter and dancer Jason Derulo had created exclusive beats for the occasion that casted electrifying affects altogether.

Chairman PCB Najam Sethi expressed his thoughts on taking PSL to the next level by introducing more Cricket matches especially in Pakistan and promoting PSL as a valuable brand for more international coverage and attention.

After presenting such a flamboyant display, the PSL bandwagon took to the road. The first match of PSL 3 contested between the debutants, Multan Sultans and the defending Champions, Peshawar Zalmi. Multan Sultans won the toss and elected to bowl against the Zalmi. A brilliant opening spell by Sohail Tanvir and Mohammad Irfan made it hard for Peshawar Zalmi top order to score freely. But Hafeez kept his cool and batted throughout the innings scoring 59 runs from 52 deliveries. Darren Sammy’s quick 29 runs from just 11 balls stretched Zalmi total to 151. Multan Sultan comprised of some seasonal cricketers like Kumar Sangakkara who scored 57 of 51 balls to secure his team on a winning side and also won man of the match award. Shoaib Malik finished the match in style and stayed not out at 42 from 34 balls.

Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators will battle it out in today’s first match at 4:30 pm. Karachi Kings fans hail the arrival of the “Boom Boom” Shahid Afridi owing to trade-in from Peshawar Zalmi along with the England captain Eoin Morgan. In the second match, Multan Sultans will clash with Lahore Qalandars.
