Yes, you read that right! After wooing audiences in Pakistan and India, Saba Qamar and Irfan Khan starrer school drama, Hindi Medium, is all set to achieve new milestones in China.
After Secret Superstar and Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Hindi Medium is the third Hindi movie to grace the cinemas in China in 2018 and it has already raked in Rs 199 crore at the China box office.
Since the film was made in only Rs 21 crore which also included advertisements and promotions, the collections are undoubtedly astounding. Not to mention, the film has performed amazingly well at the box office globally and has crossed the 300 crore mark which is absolutely superb. What’s more, it has also beaten the business of some super-duper Bollywood hits including Raees, Dabangg 2 and Tanu Weds Manu Returns.
Shedding light on the film’s success, producer Bhushan Kumar says that it’s always the story that counts. “Whether it is the success of ‘Hindi Medium’ in China or ‘Raid’ doing such phenomenal business here, it only reinforces our belief that a good story is what connects with the audience. For us, the key decisions have been to pick stories that have a universal appeal. These are the fruits of those decisions and we are overwhelmed.”
Directed by Saket Chaudhary and produced by T-Series Films and Maddock Films, Hindi Medium bagged the award for the best film in at the Filmfare Award 2018. Irfan Khan was also awarded the title of Best Actor in leading role male for his outstanding performance in the film.
Hindi Medium is also going to see a sequel which is going to be directed by Cocktail director Homi Adajania. However, only time will tell if the brilliant actress Saba Qamar will be a part of it or not.
