The model has now decided to explore another side of her creative persona with an acting debut.
Saheefa Jabbar Khattak revealed details of her debut project in exclusive conversation with celeb dhaba: Excerpt:
Q: Tell us a little about your debut drama serial, Teri Meri Kahani?
A: It’s a Moomal Entertainment production, directed by Ali Faizan. I play a lead character, Dina, and Azfar Rehman is my hero in it. Nouman Masood plays my father whereas Laila Wasti plays my mom in the drama. It is 25 episodes long serial and it is expected to air on Hum TV in mid-February.
Q: Could you please tell us a little more about your character in the drama?
A: My character is very similar to what I am in real life so up till now I haven’t found any difficulty in doing it. I am playing a role of the UK-returned girl and it’s nothing like any conventional desi larki.
As far as my look is considered, we have done a little bit of experimentation in it – it’s quite different from whatever you have seen on television so far.
Q: How did they approach you for this role?
A: They called me right after Hum Awards – Anila apa from the office was in constant touch with me. Initially, it was hard decision to take as I didn’t want to do it because it was too early and I wasn’t mentally prepared for it. I really thought that I still needed to learn acting but they had faith in me and they thought I could do it (especially Ali bhai). Actually, it was meant to take place so it happened and I think there is no way back from the acting now.
Q: How was your experience working with the director, Ali Faizan and his team?
A: Well, it has been a wonderful experience. Ali bhai is very talented and knows his job really well – be it direction, camera handling or managing lights.
It is not an easy task to work with a newcomer – especially someone with a modeling background. In modeling, we have to work and respond with a click of a camera but in acting, it’s totally different as it requires patience.
Other than the director, my colleagues have helped me a lot in understanding my work including minute details and technicalities – especially Nauman bhai has been really supportive throughout the process. Honestly, I believe that it would be really hard for me to work without this dream team.
Q: How different have you found acting from modeling?
A: Acting is fun, in fact, after doing this project I can actually call myself an artist now. It is way more respectable than other professions in many forms. It’s tough but I really enjoy it.
As compared to modeling, it needs more dedication and hard work. We have to work for long hours here, in modeling, we have to work for only 6 to 8 hours but acting requires a person to work continuously for 12 to 16 hours
