After a successful run at the Bollywood box office, fox star studios are planning to release the Rajkumar Hirani film Sanju in other Asian markets and now their next step is to introduce the movie in the Chinese box office.

The film Sanju is based on the struggling life of Sanjay Dutt and shows us all the controversies that took place in Sanjay Dutt’s life. The film released in India on 29 June and released and the film has minted Rs 300 crore.   “Many distributors in China have reached out to us. They have watched the film and there is a lot of interest in releasing it in the country. We are also looking at the muscle of Fox Star to plan and release the film in Japan, South Korea, etc,” Vijay Singh, CEO, Fox Star Studios, told PTI.


Vijay Singh who is also a distributor of the film further added on “It is all about good writing. Star power helps but the golden rule is you need to have a fantastic script and get someone who can capture the imagination. The audience will not throw money just for the sake of it. They are a reminder that good films will be accepted.”

China has been seen as a great market for the Bollywood film industry as Amir Khan’s Dangal, Secret superstar and Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan emerged successful in the Chinese film industry.  Vijay Singh has said that its not confirmed uptil now about the number of the screens however they are looking forward to the plan. Also Vijay Singh is working on sequels to the films Bang Bang, Jolly LLB2 and Baaghi.

Vijay Singh has confirmed that they are done with the first half of the Bang Bang sequel whereas Baaghi 3 will be completed and will hit the big screens by 2020. Will Sanjay Dutt’s biopic Sanju succeed in the Chinese box office?
