Sara Loren’s item song from JPNA 2 is a damp squib!
We all know what’s wrong with the concept of ‘item numbers’ in our films, of course. Starting with the name itself, of referring to an attractive girl in skimpy attire as an ‘item’, these songs have been a sexist and embarrassingly obvious ploy to attract largely-male audiences to theatres.
Often doing nothing to advance the plot and possibly alienating a significant number of viewers, item numbers are considered ‘mandatory’, when in fact they are usually unnecessary and always misogynistic.
The makers of JPNA 2 have released another track titled “Ishq Hoa Jo Tari” featuring Sara Loren.
Sara Loren, better known in Pakistan as Mona Lizza, TV actress, dancer, model, packed up her belongings and moved to Mumbai.

The publicity thirst within her grew even more than what we saw her in a couple of Bollywood movies.
Remember the disastrous Murder 3?
“Ishq Hoa Jo Tari” is a club number choreographed by famous Bollywood dance director Shabina Khan.
God knows what made Khan choreograph such creepy dance moves.
What was going on Shabina’s mind?
Loren shows off her obnoxious steps with complete conviction. She has danced worst than ever, and the lyrics are as senseless as the music.
Loren may have done some good work in Pakistan, but starring in this song, to us was one of the things we cannot overlook, because it literally reduces women to pieces of meat.
The song seems to have no relevance in the film. The purpose of actors doing an item number is to add star power to the film. Loren is best known for her useless and seductive roles.
The song also features Kubra Khan and debutant Omer Shahzad.
JPNA 2 is written by Vasay Chaudry, directed by Nadeem Baig, and produced by Salman Iqbal, Humayun Saeed, Shahzad Nasib and Jerjees Seja.
