Sohai Ali Abro’s much-awaited film, Motorcycle girl, has finally got a release date – it will hit the theatre near you on April 20 this year.

Written and directed by Adnan Sarwar of ‘Shah’ famed, the film is loosely based on a story of 21-years-old girl, Zenith Irfan, from Lahore who while breaking all stereotypes decides to explore the world on a motorcycle. She is the first Pakistani girl to travel through northern region of Pakistan alone on a two-wheeler.

Sohai Ali Abro in her earlier interview with Dawn said it’s a proud feeling to essay the role of a such an incredible woman on screen.

“It is absolute honour to play Zenith in his film. The role of this incredible, empowered female is one that I can relate to and is close to my heart. I have always believed in the liberating the power of our women, especially considering the taboos we face in our society, and I am really happy that a lot of young girls would be able to look up to me for doing something positive and inspiring,” the actress said.

To get into the skin of the character, Sohai Ali Abro has undertaken extensive motorcycle training under the supervision of experts. During the shooting of the film she has actually visited the places Zenith Irfan has explored in her journey.

The writer cum director of the film Adnan Sarwar, who has earlier made a successful attempt in making a biopic on Olympic boxing champion, Syed Hussain Shah, is really excited about his next venture.

“The remarkable story of what Zenith did at such a young age caught my attention after Shah and I knew it was the right subject to turn into a film”, said Adnan Sarwar. “I have scripted a fictional world around the core true story of her journey and I hope that Motorcycle Girl will help further the cause of women empowerment in Pakistan”.

The renowned producer Jami Mehmood has co-produced ‘Motorcycle girl’ under the banner of Azadfilm Company.
