After giving a blockbuster hit, Ra One, in 2011, Bollywood superstars, Shahrukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor, are now all set for another great reunion on silver screen.
Filmfare magazine has recently reported that the chances are high that SRK and Kareena Kapoor will work together in a biopic of astronomer Rakesh Sharma.
The film is tentatively titled as Salute and it narrates the story of first Indian who travels into space. The film will be directed by Mahesh Mathai.
According to sources, the film makers had initially contacted Qunatico star Priyanka Chopra for the role but as the actress had already in talk for another similar project she refused the offer. As per reports, she would likely to do a biopic on astronaut Kalpana Chawla.
After Priyanka’s refusal, the filmmakers are keen to take Kareena Kapoor Khan for the role but apparently the actress hasn’t given her approval yet. Some media reports have suggested that Kareena is not interested in the project and have already turned down the offer.
A source close to the actress has confirmed a local tabloid that she wouldn’t do the project.
“There are several offers, roles and films discussed with actors. Not all of these discussions materialise into films on the big screen. And not all of them really constitute as offers on the table. Salute is surely not on the menu for Kareena,” says a source.
As far as King Khan’s association with the film is concerned, he is likely to start preparation for the role after completing the shoot of Zero. Reportedly, he will begin the shoot for Salute from September to November. He will then take a break of a month for the promotions of Zero and resume the shoot of Salute in the start of next year.
