The first look of Abhishek Chaubey’s upcoming flick, Sonchiriya, is recently out – and we can’t take off our eyes from Sushant Singh Rajput who remind us of Gabbar Singh of Sholay in his badass dacoit look.

Famous trade analyst ad film critic Taran Adarsh shared the first look of the film through an interesting Twitter post.

With unkempt hair and beard, khakee attire and a rifle, the actor looks every bit of a dacoit he is playing in the film.

Titled as Sonchiriya, the film is produced is by Ronnie Screwala, and is directed by Abhishek Chaubey. Set in the era of 1970s it will be primarily shot in Chambal and Mumbai. The studded cast included Bhumi Pednekar, Manoj Bajpayee, Ashutosh Rana and Ranvir Shorey in pivotal roles.

“Sushant is playing a dacoit for the first time and wanted to get into the character before the schedule starts so he will leave for the location on January 12 to spend time with a few former dacoits. He will also lose some muscle weight to look the rustic part as well as learn rifle-shooting,” a source told Bollywood Hungama.

Reportedly, the story is inspired by various myths and stories associated with Chambal.

In his five years long career span, Sushant Singh Rajput has done a variety of roles from a romantic hero, detective to cricketer. This is the first time his fans will see him as a badass dacoit on silver screen.

Sushant Rajput is really excited about his new project and shared experience working in the film in an exclusive interview with IANS,

“Shooting for Abhishek Chaubey’s film is on full swing. I came here in Chambal early to do a bit of warm up for the film. Visiting ravines, talking to locals, working on dialect and inflection and a bit of cut-off from everything before the shoot helps keep the right things in perspective,” he said.

Known for his weird choices of work, Abishek Choubey has earlier directed Shahid Kapoor’s Udta Punjab, Madhuri Dixit-Huma Qureshi-Naseeruddin Shah-starrer Dedh Ishqiya and Vidya Balan-starrer Ishqiya.
