Well guys Todd Philips has finally revealed he and Joaquin Phoenix are open for a sequel to joker. The first film had grossed over 1 billion USD worldwide and the film has just been marked the best by all the critics. Philips and Joaquin both received standing ovations for this film.

Todd Philips stated “When a movie does USD 1 billion and costs USD 60 million to make, of course, it comes up. But Joaquin and I haven’t really decided on it. We’re open. I mean, I’d love to work with him on anything, quite frankly.”

He further added on “So who knows? But it would have to have a real thematic resonance the way this one did, ultimately being about childhood trauma and the lack of love, and the loss of empathy, all those things are really what made this movie work for us, so we’d have to have something that had an equal thematic resonance.”

Todd Philips had also teased about a sequel saying “It all on Joaquin, anything Joaquin wants to do.” But recently when the filmmaker spoke to IGN regarding his tease he stated “We have no plans for a sequel. The quote was, ‘I will do anything Joaquin wants to do.’ And I would. But the movie’s not set up to (have) a sequel. We always pitched it as one movie, and that’s it.”

Currently the films sequel is under speculations.
