Tom Hanks the American veteran actor who became famous for his role in the film Saving Private Ryan has said that he will be playing the role of the bad guy in the upcoming Elvis Presley biopic and this time the actor has also said in a statement that he can play the bad guy as well as he has always been seen in positive roles throughout his career.
The actor, who was presented with the ‘Cecille B DeMille’ award at the Golden Globes ceremony, will be playing Elvis Presley’s talent manager Colonel Tom Parker who had never been sincere with the legendary musician. Baz Luhrmann’s will be directing the biopic and the film is currently under the works which is untitled.
Tom Hanks said in a recent interview “If all goes according to plan, I’ll be playing Colonel Tom Parker to Austin Butler’s Elvis Presley and hopefully I will then finally have an answer to all your stupid questions about why I will never play a bad guy, “I think I’m about to do that. That’s who I am playing next.”
Austin Butler who is a newcomer will be playing the role of Elvis. The film will be shot in Australia as well and Tom Hanks will be flying to Australia to shoot the first take of his role in the film.
