Zayn Malik, former member of the British boyband One Direction, has recorded his first song for a Bollywood film.

The singer confirmed the news in his latest interview with Elle India magazine.

“It’s one of the first songs I’ve sung in full Hindi, so it’s going to be cool to see what the response to that is,” the 25-year-old singer revealed to the magazine.

Although the singer hasn’t revealed yet the name of the film and the director he sang for but the news has already created quite an excitement among Zayn Malik’s fans and they are eagerly waiting for the song to come out.

During the interview Zayn Malik also revealed that he had been a lifelong fan of  Bollywood films and grew up while watching them.

“Before I can even remember… [Bollywood films were] on the TV. Bollywood is so impeccable. If you ever get a chance to watch a good Bollywood movie, watch Devdas!” he told the magazine.

During the interview, the singer also shared some exclusive details about his second album after Mind of Mine. “There’s definitely a lot of Urdu; some nice qawwali sounds. There might even be some bhangra vibes. I have worked with AR Rahman on one song,” Zayn confirmed.

Born and raised in Bradford, Zayn Malik is an English singer and songwriter. He auditioned as a solo artist for the British music competition The X Factor in 2010. Although he got eliminated from the show as a solo performer but was brought back into the competition along with other contestants, to form the boy band, known as One Direction. Malik left the group in March 2015 and signed a solo recording contract with RCA Records.

In his debut studio album, Mind of Mina(2016) he adopted a more alternative R&B music styleand its lead single, “Pillowtalk”, Malik became the first British male artist to debut at number one in both the UK and US with a debut single and debut album. Malik is the recipient of several accolades, including an American Music Award, Billboard Music Award and MTV Video Music Award.
