A Zombieland sequel featuring the original cast is planned for an October 2019 release. “We’re going on the tenth anniversary of Zombieland, the film’s co-writer, Paul Wernick, told Vulture news, “Zombieland came out October of 2009. We don’t know what you get someone for their tenth anniversary, but it may be a Zombieland 2. The hope is that we’re shooting that thing early 2019 for an October of ’19 release, with the original cast, by the way.”
There was news of a sequel back in 2014, when it was reported that Sony Pictures had hired Dave Callaham to write the script for Zombieland 2, with Ruben Fleischer returning to direct. Zombieland co-writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick went on to script Deadpool, and Deadpool 2, If you guys loved the deadpool movies you w/ill surely wait for the Zombieland sequel as well.
It has been reported that the old cast will be featuring in the sequel, the director has called back all the actors who played the lead roles in Zombieland back in 2009. The film will be starring Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin as survivors of a zombie apocalypse. At the time, Emma Stone and Jesse Eisenberg were at the beginning of their careers, and now Emma Stone has an Oscar and Jesse Eisenberg is Lex Luthor in the DCEU.
The official synopsis of the film read out “Through comic mayhem that stretches from the White House and through the heartland, the Zombie slayers must face off against many new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors. But most of all, they have to face the growing pains of their own snarky, makeshift family.”
The film will be coming out on October 11 2019.
